Ingredients
½cupToor Dal | Split Pigeon Peas
¼tspTurmeric powder
1tspSalt
¼tspCayenne Pepper
2Tomatoes
2tbspChopped Cilantro
For seasoning:
2tspsOil | Ghee
1tspMustard seeds
½tspHing
5Curry Leaves
Instructions
Chop the tomatoes into four halves.
Wash the dal and pressure cook it along with chopped tomatoes and turmeric powder for three whistles in the pressure cooker.
Let the pressure release and remove the tomato skin.
Now heat a pan and add oil. When the oil is hot, add the mustard seeds, hing and curry leaves.
As they start to splutter, add the cooked dal along with tomato and mash it well.
Add salt and allow it simmer.
Finally, sprinkle some cayenne pepper and cilantro and turn off the heat.

Notes
I made this without any onion and garlic. But you can skip tomatoes and add onion and garlic or include them all.
Adjust the salt and spices as per your preference.
You can use masoor dal instead of toor dal or a mix of both toor and masoor dal.
