Easy Bisi Bele Bath | Pressure Cooker BisiBeleBath
My version of the Karnataka special Bisi Bele Bath, curried lentil rice made in the pressure cooker. A perfect weekday recipe that can be prepared in no time.

Ingredients
1.5cupsRice
½cupToor dal
2cupsMixed vegetables For this recipe I used, radish, carrot, peas and sweet potato
½tspTurmeric
1.5tspSalt
1tbspSambar Powder
2tspsVaangi bath powder
1tspJaggerypowdered jaggery or a small piece
½Onion
1tspTamarind Pastediluted in 1 cup of water or 1 cup of tamarind water extracted from soaking small gooseberry size tamarind.

10Curry leaves
2tbspCilantro -chopped
For Tempering
2tbspGhee
2tspMustard seeds
2tspFenugreek seeds
1inchCinnamon
Instructions
Chop all the vegetables and onion.
Add the vegetables, onion, washed rice, toor dal, turmeric powder, vaangi bath powder, sambar powder, jaggery, salt, water, tamarind water, curry leaves and cilantro to the pressure cooker. Add everything given under ingredients. :-)
Pressure cook it for up to 4-5 whistles.
Once the pressure is off, mix the rice nicely.
In a separate tempering pan/kadai, heat the ghee and once the ghee is melted and hot, add mustard seeds, methi seeds, and cinnamon. As they start to splutter, add it to the rice and mix again.
That's it bisi bele bath is ready :-)
Notes
Instead of using ghee for tempering, you can use regular cooking oil, and that makes it perfect for vegans too.
You can replace white rice with brown rice or millets or quinoa.
Few curry leaves can be added during tempering too.
