Ingredients
Before getting into the recipe, as always, I want to talk about the ingredients, and this time it’s just two ingredients.
Banana – I used two slightly ripe bananas. (Apart from banana bread, you can use bananas in other recipes. Do check them out below. )Leftover bananas work perfectly well. Just peel them and chop them into slices and freeze them. Frozen bananas come in handy for many recipes, and this ice cream is one of the best recipes.
Raw Cacao – I used Earth Echo Foods’ Cacao Bliss, a superfood elixir blend that makes this ice cream healthy and sweet. Let me talk about this product in detail now.
PS – I did not include any toppings. But you can add nuts, syrups of your choice. Please check the toppings section.
Earth Echo Foods’ Cacao Bliss
Cacao Bliss is a blend of raw cacao, turmeric MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil, lucuma, and four superfoods that support overall wellness. It’s a fantastic dietary supplement made with the best organic and non-GMO ingredients.
It’s dairy-free, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, organic, and keto-friendly without any added sugar. You can read all the ingredients on the label. Nothing fancy or unknown. :-) That says it all about the ingredients.
I have used the cacao bliss to make this ice cream, but you can use it to make brownies, cookies, pancakes, smoothies, coffee, and for your overnight oats, and this list goes on. You can use this cacao bliss in place of processed chocolate and make delicious treats.
You can check out their other products on the website and also other recipes.
Toppings
I kept the ice cream simple, but you can add toppings of your choice. The sky is the limit when it comes to the toppings. You can add nuts, dried fruits of your choice, and drizzle honey, maple syrup for more sweetness. You can add some nut butter while blending the ice cream or use it as a topping.
Dietary specification and serving suggestions
This ice cream is vegan, gluten-free. You can serve it in a waffle cone or a bowl with toppings of your choice.
As we are using frozen banana, you can relish it right after blending. I usually freeze for atleast 2 hours or until it becomes scoopable. If you freeze for a longer time, let it soften a bit before you serve.
Do I need a special blender for making this ice cream?
A food processor or a regular blender should work. I don’t have ice cream maker at home and all the ice cream recipes on my blog are prepared with blender or mixer jar.
I used my Indian mixer jar for blending the frozen banana and cacao bliss. It takes some time to blend the frozen banana but keep pulsing till the bananas become small chunks and then blend until smooth and creamy. In between, if the bananas are stuck between the blades, using a spoon or spatula, gently push and stir them. If needed, you can add a couple of tablespoons of plant-based milk.
How to make vegan chocolate banana ice cream
- Peel and chop the banana and freeze for atleast 8 to 10 hours. Before making the ice cream, take it out from the freezer and sit for 15 minutes.
- In a mixer jar, add the frozen banana and pulse until it breaks into chunks.
- Then blend them until slightly smooth.
- Now add the cacao bliss.
- Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2 hours or until it becomes scoopable. Garnish it with nuts and serve it in a bowl or cone.
Recipe Notes
- After freezing the bananas, especially with raw cacao, it might taste slightly bitter. So make sure you use ripe bananas and, if needed, add some maple syrup or other natural sweeteners. And if you like the bitter taste, you can add up to 2 tbsps of cacao bliss.
- I did not use any liquid, but you can add almond or any other plant-based milk if you find it difficult while blending.
- Add toppings of your choice, including syrups, nuts, and dried fruits.

A good, healthy sweetener are chopped medjool dates. They are high in fiber and iron and very sweet.
