(Video coming soon)
So it begins – my rotimatic recipe series. I am glad to start with my favorite masala roti with quinoa flour. I began to make rotis and pooris regularly now with my Rotimatic. So far, I have tried regular roti, spinach roti, and poori, but all with wheat flour.
Does Rotimatic Adapt to New Flour and New Measures?
The masala roti recipe with quinoa flour was on my list for a long time. I wanted to try this in Rotimatic and see how the machine adapts to new powder. Guess what, without any issues, the device changed to the flour combinations along with spices and started making perfect masala rotis. I was so surprised and elated to see the rotis coming out. I used 1:1 ratio of wheat flour to quinoa flour. Now coming to the recipe, there is no set measure or set spices to add in this masala roti. You can add and adjust the spices as per your preference. I went with garam masala, coriander powder, red chili powder, crushed fenugreek leaves and turmeric powder. I included salt in the flour instead of adding to the water container. But you can add it to your water container also.
All you have to do is the mix the flours and spices and add it to the flour container. Also, make sure your water and oil containers are full. That’s it. Rotimatic takes care of the rest. It is as simple as that. That’s what Rotimatic Life is all about. You don’t need to rely on frozen rotis, and you don’t need to worry about kneading and rolling, and you don’t need to worry if there are sufficient rotis for your family. Rotimatic takes care of everything as long as you have the flour. And you know what goes into your roti exactly. You can even prepare the flour mix during the weekend and keep it ready.

Hello Vidhya. Thanks for sharing such a healthy rotimatic recipe. I am planning to buy rotimatic this summer. Their website mentions only certain branded flours available in the market that can be used with Rotimatic. When I make rotis, I mix branded atta with Soyabean flour and Moong dal flour. I am not sure if Rotimatic can handle such blended flours. Have you tried such or similar combination in your recipes? Whats your take on this?

Hi Madhu, thanks much and sorry for the delayed reply. Yes, Rotimatic can handle mixed flours, but there might be one or two wastages as the machine needs some for adapting. For this masala roti, I mixed aashirvaad atta and quinoa flour, and recently I tried adding my homemade whole wheat flour and also for pizza I went with more maida. In all the scenarios I had one wastage wherein the roti didn’t get the pressed properly, or dough got stuck in the kneading area, but after that, it started to work fine. When I asked the rotimatic team, they mentioned that the machine takes time to adapt to the flour type and humidity around. My next experiment is to mix millet flours and try. Will keep you posted. Hope this helps. Thanks again!
