Yesterday I posted a simple smoothie with fresh bananas and today’s smoothie is also simple but instead of fresh fruits, I choose frozen fruits. We love berry smoothie, but finding them year around is difficult. So I always have a frozen pack in handy so that I can whip up some easy smoothies, parfaits not only for breakfast but for snacks. This is a simple four-ingredient fix. Blend the berries along with yogurt, water, and vanilla essence and that’s it. A perfect, easy, grab and go breakfast is ready in no time.
I am a big fan of Jamba Juices. I love their thick and cold smoothies. My grad school had a Jamba Juice campus inside and I always grab a berry smoothie or a tropical mango smoothie after my work (I was working as teaching assistant for one semester and a web intern for one semester) but before class. That one glass satiates my hunger and helps me to manage until I reach home. I always wanted to try similar smoothies at home and one such attempt is this simple berry smoothie with yogurt. I have already posted a berry smoothie recipe with fresh berries, milk, and yogurt. So for this one, I went with frozen berries and yogurt.
I love adding dairy to my smoothies to get a decent dose of Vitamin D. This smoothie is rich in anti-oxidants, vitamin C, D and of course fiber. Here is the simple yet delicious homemade berry smoothie recipe. ( I was just experimenting the photography with different background and with different jars. Let me know which you liked :-) )
Ingredients:
- Frozen Berries – 2 cups (I used Costco’s Super Fruit Blend mix. It contains strawberries, cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and pomegranate)
- Yogurt – 1 cup
- Water – 1 cup
- Vanilla Essence – 1 tsp
Steps:
- Add the frozen berry mix, water, yogurt and vanilla essence and blend until smooth.
That’s it. Berry yogurt smoothie is ready. Easy huh?
Notes:
- I usually use the frozen berries as is. If you thaw them, you can add some ice cubes to make it thick or you can skip ice cubes if you do not prefer it chilled.
- If required add sugar or honey for additional sweet.

oooohh lovely color Vidhya :) I love the one you have set up as the featured image – the glass :) Were those tiny bubbles part of the glass design or formed naturally from the cold smoothie? Either way, it is too pretty and tempting!
