Enjoy the tropical flavors with this delicious cold mango pineapple smoothie with orange juice. A three-ingredient vegan smoothie, just perfect for the summers!
Earlier I posted a breakfast smoothie with mango, and here is another smoothie recipe with fresh and frozen mango, pineapple, and orange juice. Guess what? I did not add any milk, yogurt, or nuts either. Yes, a tropical mango pineapple smoothie without yogurt.

Recipe inspiration
I love Jamba Juice’s mango-a-go-go smoothie. During my grad days in Sac State, this mango-a-go-go was my go-to smoothie, and I used to buy it quite often as I love to sip it all day long. I always wanted to recreate the same at home. (I am getting there)
But mango-a-go-go calls for assorted juices and milk apart from mangoes. That’s when I thought of trying a smoothie without any milk and just with the readily available fresh ingredients. Then I made this mango pineapple smoothie with orange juice, and we all loved it—perfect smoothie to sip all day long like how I used to do during my grad days.
Ingredients
Now coming to the ingredients, there is nothing fancy here. We need three ingredients.
- Mangoes
- Pineapples
- Freshly squeezed/ store-bought orange or grapefruit juice.
I went with an equal amount of mangoes and pineapples, but you can adjust them as per your liking.
Tips for making the best mango pineapple smoothie
There is no secret ingredient here, and the smoothie’s flavor relies on the quality of the fruits. Use fresh, juicy, and sweet (a slightly tart is ok) mangoes and pineapples for the best smoothie. If the fruits are bland, you might have to add additional mango or pineapple flavoring/ essence and sweeteners.
While you can use store-bought frozen fruits, I recommend fresh fruits. During the peak season, you can buy fresh mangoes and pineapples and chop and freeze them. When needed, you can use them for making this smoothie.
Now coming to orange juice, while testing this smoothie, I have used store-bought juice as well as freshly squeezed grape juice. Both worked fine. Again, I would recommend fresh ones, but go ahead with what you have in hand.
Note on blender/mixer jar.
I used my Blendtec to make this smoothie. I added all the ingredients and blended them.
As we are using frozen fruits, a good quality blender will help. But you can try it in your regular mixer jar as well. Make sure you chop the fruits into small pieces, and while blending, add the orange juice as required and continue blending.
If the fruits get stuck between the blades, gently push and stir them using a spoon or spatula.
Dietary specification & Yield
It’s a vegan, gluten-free, and nut-free smoothie making it perfect for all. The below measure yields approximately 20oz, and you can serve 2 to 3.
Mango pineapple smoothie recipe with step by step pictures
- Freeze the chopped mangoes and pineapples overnight or atleast for 6 hours. (During the season, you can chop and freeze them and use when required)
- Keep the frozen fruit at room temperature for 20 minutes so that the blending is easy. Add the orange juice, frozen mangoes, and pineapples.
- Blend it until smooth. If needed, add water while blending. Transfer it to the serving glasses (smoothie will be thick) and enjoy!
Recipe Notes
- I went with an equal amount of mangoes and pineapples. You can adjust this measure as well as the orange juice measure as per your taste preference.
- Make sure the fruits are sweet. If the mangoes or pineapples are bland, the smoothie won’t taste good. In that case, add mango/pineapple essence or flavoring.
- Store-bought or freshly squeezed orange or grapefruit juice works well.
- You can convert this smoothie into breakfast smoothie bowl by adding nuts, chia seeds and more fruits of your choice.
