My love for limeades
I love lemonades and limeades, and I have a few on my blog, like kulukki sarbath, limonana, shikanji, barley lemonade, and more. I love the tangy and citrus flavor, and even in restaurants, I always look out for unique lemonades and limeades.
So I first enjoyed this recipe in a restaurant in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and I loved the flavors. Coconut milk and limes are my favorite ingredients, and when I saw a drink with these two ingredients, I immediately ordered this coconut limeade; needless to say, I enjoyed it so much.
I wanted to try it out at home, and when I checked on Google, I also learned that this is a popular recipe in Colombia, known as limonada de coco there.
PS – I m not claiming this to be an authentic or traditional Colombian drink. I went with my version and used sweetened condensed milk to sweeten this limeade. If you check my tender coconut kheer, you will find similar ingredients except for the tender coconut. Here we use limes. Let’s get straight into the ingredients and procedure.
Ingredients required
We only need three main ingredients for this limeade – coconut milk, sweet condensed milk, and freshly squeezed lime juice.
We also need ice cubes; you can blend them with limeade or add them before serving.
I have also used some agave nectar to drizzle on top and unsweetened coconut flakes to sprinkle on top to add texture. You can also use agave nectar and shredded coconut to decorate the rim of the glass.
Dietary specifications and ingredient substitutions
This coconut milk limeade is a gluten-free and nut-free limeade. But I have used sweetened condensed milk, but you swap it with agave nectar, maple syrup, or raw sugar for a vegan version. When using these sweeteners, you can use coconut cream instead of coconut milk to get a rich and creamy flavor or go with coconut milk.
How to make coconut limeade
- Add the coconut milk, lime juice, and sweetened condensed milk into a blender.
- Blend it thoroughly for 45 to 50 seconds until well combined.
- Refrigerate or serve immediately with some crushed ice cubes added. If you are using unsweetened coconut, add that before serving.
Recipe Notes
- Adjust the sweet condensed milk to taste and as per the tanginess of the limes.
- Please check the variation section for alternatives.
