Today I am presenting you an easy grab and go breakfast smoothie made with baby kale, pineapple, and almond butter. It’s the super simple kale pineapple smoothie, and you can whip this up in less than 15 minutes.
I love breakfast smoothies, and I have already shared quite a few smoothies on the blog including kale smoothie with mixed fruits, berry yogurt smoothie, oats smoothie and many more. Sometimes even with substantial breakfast, I like to have these smoothies to get my daily dose of vitamins, anti-oxidants, and minerals. This week I am participating in the 3-day marathon under the theme “Dish for each meal” and I am starting with this Kale smoothie for the breakfast.
I explained how to make different breakfast smoothies and about their shelf life in the mixed fruits and kale smoothie post. As I mentioned in that post, there is no set recipe, and you can make breakfast smoothies with seasonal fruits and greens along with your favorite nut butter and protein powders.
Why Kale Smoothie & What Variety to Use?
Kale is a nutrient-dense vegetable, and it is the part of the cabbage family. You can read about the benefits of kale on the Healthline website. There are different varieties of kale – curly ones, flat ones, etc. I prefer baby kale as cleaning is very easy, and they don’t have sturdy stems that we need to remove. Also, they are not bitter like the fully grown kale.
You can use any kale variety but make sure you clean them thoroughly and remove the hard stems. If you are a big fan of kale, replace kale with regular spinach or baby spinach. I know, I am repeating, but you can mix and match and create your delicious breakfast smoothies.
Now without any further ado, here is the simple kale smoothie recipe.
Ingredients:
- 10 baby kale leaves
- 1.5 cups pineapple chunks
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1 cup of water
- 1 tsp sugar
- Blend the kale leaves along with pineapple, almond butter, sugar in a regular blender until smooth by adding water.
- Transfer it to a jar and enjoy at room temperature or cold.
Recipe Notes-
- As I mentioned above, there is no set recipe for this smoothie. You can adjust the ingredients according to your preference.
- Add any nut butter of your choice, and also you can include a scoop of protein powder.
- Instead of water, you can add milk of your choice like almond milk or soy milk or regular dairy-milk.
- You can also use any sweetener or honey or sugar of your choice.
