Do you love easy to grab and go breakfast smoothies? Here is one such recipe with Kale and fresh seasonal fruits like cantaloupe, pineapple, and berries and with no added sugar. This Kale Smoothie with Berries is the perfect vitamin and antioxidants rich smoothie to brighten up your mornings!
How to Prepare Breakfast Smoothies?
I have mentioned my love for the quick grab and go meals on many of my previous posts. This kale smoothie is not my first breakfast smoothie recipe. All you have to do for these breakfast smoothies is to blend the seasonal fruits with the greens and water or milk and top it up with your protein powder or any nut butter or chia seeds or flax meal or even green matcha tea powder. That’s it. You are good to go.
The breakfast smoothie recipes are as simple as that, and the sky is the limit for the variations. There is no set written recipe for this breakfast smoothie. You can mix and match the ingredients according to your preference.
Shelf Life for Breakfast Smoothies
I always make them fresh, and I have tried refrigerating them only for 4 to 5 hours and not more than that. I would recommend chopping the fruits well ahead and even freeze them. You can then blend the required amount in the mornings.
Why the combination of Cantaloupe, Pineapple, and Berries?
I went ahead with the available seasonal fruits. I had two sweet cantaloupes sitting, and I wasn’t sure whether adding melons with kale would work or not. Then I thought of trying it along with my favorite pineapple. As I had some fresh berries, I included them as well. And that’s how I came up with this combo.
Is Sugar or Honey Mandatory for Kale Smoothie with Berries?
Adding sugar or honey is up to your preference. This smoothie gets the sweetness from the fruits. But with berries and pineapple, you add in the sour taste as well. So depending upon the sweetness or sourness of the fruits you can adjust the quantity of the fruits. Also, baby kale is not as bitter as the regular ones. So if you are getting acquired to kale, start with baby kale, and you can add some sugar or honey.
A special mention and heartfelt thanks to my friend Bharathi for helping with the pictures of this kale smoothie. I am learning more about storytelling with food pictures. You can read further on my IG post. I will be posting it tonight on IG.

I put a little turmeric and fiber in and a whole banana instead of sweetener.
