Here is a perfect summer party drink, of course, non-alcoholic – A simple tea mocktail recipe prepared with decaffeinated fruit-flavored tea and tender coconut water. The flavors are elevated with a dash of lime/lemon juice and kiwi fruit chunks. Check out how I made this tea mocktail below.
This year we have an extended spring and rainy season in the Bay Area. The weather is so sporadic. We are seeing the sun only from last week. Soon it will be summer break and the grilling and sizzling season will start. Before that, I wanted to post this mocktail recipe.
Last year, I posted the green tea spritzer, and here comes the second one. I love herbal and fruit flavored teas. I mix and match a couple of flavors and love that bold flavors. If you are a tea lover like me, then don’t forget to check out the matcha latte and Thai iced tea, green tea spritzer recipes on my blog.
PS – Before getting into the recipe, I want to mention that, this is NOT-A-SPONSORED post clearly.
Tea Mocktails | What I Used?
I love Tazo brand’s passion fruit tea and also the wild sweet orange. I love to combine either one with green tea and make an iced tea. The flavors are bold and perfect for hot summer afternoons.
Now let’s just talk about the passion fruit tea as I am using that in this recipe. It is a caffeine-free tea with the infusion of hibiscus, orange peel, rose hips, and passion fruit flavors. The vibrant pink color makes this tea very attractive and perfect for the parties and potlucks. Nothing can beat the fresh coconut water. As I can’t source the fresh coconut water here, I used the organic Harmless Harvest coconut water. You can find it in Costco and also in Whole foods and other shops. This coconut water is sweet, and the pink hue of this coconut water also adds to that vibrant tea color. I personally prefer this coconut water. But you can use the ones that are available at your end.
Other Variations:
This can be prepared well ahead and refrigerated. To be honest, you don’t need any occasion for this mocktail, or you don’t need to wait for parties and potlucks. This refreshing drink is a perfect thirst quencher. Instead of passion fruit, you can use wild sweet orange tea or other herbal teas of your choice. Add in some chia seeds or basil seeds to make it a bit healthier.
Now without any further ado, here is the non-alcoholic iced fusion tea recipe.
Ingredients:
- 2 Tazo Passion herbal tea bags
- 1 14 oz. can tender coconut water
- 1 cup luke-warm water
- 3 tsp sugar
- ¼ cup kiwi chunks, fresh
- 1 to 2 tsp lime or lemon juice, fresh
Steps:
- Add the tea bags to the luke-warm water and let it sit for 30 minutes.
- Then add the coconut water, sugar, and the kiwi chunks. Do not discard the tea bags.
- Let it refrigerate for about 40 to 45 minutes. This helps the flavors to get infused well. You can refrigerate over-night also.
- Discard the tea bags and serve chilled with a dash of lime. If you have refrigerated for a long time, discard the kiwi chunks also.
Notes:
- You can brew the tea in your preferred way. I used luke-warm water, and I did not boil the tea. I just let it settle in the luke-warm water for 30 minutes.
- Add lemon/lime juice just before serving.
- Instead of kiwi, you can add any other berries or apricots or cherries. Make sure they are not sour.
- Adjust the sugar according to your preference.
