As much as I love enjoying fresh mangoes, I love incorporating mango into recipes. Every summer, I try to share some mango recipes, and as of now, I have over 25 plus mango recipes on my blog. Last year, I shared Thai mango curry and South Indian mambazha pachadi, and now this year, I have planned to share some beverages with mangoes, and I am starting with this mango tea.

This iced mango tea is a simple iced tea with added fresh mangoes and lime/lemon juice flavors. You can even call this mango iced tea lemonade—a refreshing beverage and great for the summer months. Let’s get straight into the ingredient and recipe details.
Ingredients required
Tea – I used black loose tea for this drink. You can use black tea bags, green tea, or a mix of green or black tea.
Fresh mangoes and lime/juice – This tea needs fresh sweet, and ripe mangoes. And for added flavor, we need lemon or lime juice. If you have fresh mango nectar, you can use that too. But I highly recommend fresh mangoes. Check out my homemade mango nectar recipe if you are interested.
Sugar – Depending upon the sweetness of the mangoes, add the sugar. You can adjust the sugar to taste; instead of sugar, add any sweetener you choose.
Apart from these ingredients, we need water to steep the tea and ice cubes. Please check the recipe card for exact measurements and recipe notes for variations and tips.
Cold brew vs. hot brew
For this iced tea, I went with a hot brew. And I refrigerated the steeped tea. But you can do cold brew as well. Add the tea bags to the water and refrigerate them for 4 to 6 hours. Then remove the tea bags or strain and use that for preparing the mango iced tea. The cold brew method yields perfect non-bitter tea, but the hot brew is good too. Do not steep the tea for more than five minutes.
Tea or mango ice cubes
Add the ice cubes just before serving the mango tea, as the ice cubes dilute the taste quickly. Alternatively, you can freeze a small amount of the brewed tea into tea cubes and add it to the tea before serving. Or freeze the mango puree in an ice cube tray and add that to the tea before serving for enhanced flavor.
Dietary specifications & VVK tips
- This mango tea is a vegan, gluten-free tea. Make sure to use vegan sugar.
- Serve this tea chilled.
- Ensure you use ripe and sweet mangoes.
- Please do not skip the lemon/lime juice, as it helps to balance the flavor.
How to make mango iced tea
- Bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil. I boiled my water in my electric kettle. Transfer the hot water to a pitcher and add the black tea. Let it steep for 5 to 7 minutes. Strain the tea and refrigerate it for an hour or two. You can brew the tea ahead for this recipe and refrigerate it.
- Add the brewed tea, lemon/lime juice, fresh mango pulp, and ice cubes into the blender.
- Blend them well and check for sweetness. Add sugar, honey, agave nectar, or any sweetener you choose and blend again.
- Transfer to serving glasses or to a pitcher and refrigerate. Serve this mango tea chilled, and add more ice cubes before serving.
Recipe Notes
- If the mangoes are sweet, you might not need sugar or sweetener. If using, adjust it according to taste. You can use honey, agave nectar, maple syrup, or coconut sugar.
- You can make the tea in your preferred way and as you like. I didn’t opt for a strong tea for this mango tea and went with 2 tsps of black tea. For a strong version, add 3 to 4 tsps of black tea or use the same measure and brew it a little longer.
- Don’t brew the tea for 10 minutes unless you do a cold brew. Steeping the tea for longer in hot water makes it slightly bitter.
- Instead of black tea, you can use green tea or a mix of green and black tea.
