Eggless Microwave Chocolate Cake
Here comes my third recipe under the theme “Chocolate dishes” – Eggless Microwave Chocolate Cake with Hershey’s Syrup. Earlier I posted Oreo Milkshake and Nutella Cookies, and now it’s time for some cake recipe, not an elaborate one but a sweet and simple one.
Hot chocolate and chocolate milkshakes are vaandu recent favorites and this time instead of buying cocoa powder I bought the chocolate syrup. IMO, it is quite convenient. And I never thought of using it in baking. So last week after making the Nutella cookies, vaandu wanted to make mug cakes also, and that’s when I decided to try the chocolate flavor.
We did have a couple of failed attempts but finally got this perfect measure that we liked. I wanted to name this as a cake brownie as I felt it’s more between cake and a brownie but vaandu said it’s more like a cake and hence went with chocolate cake. :-) But I did have it with ice-cream and clicked it with ice-cream too.
Here is the recipe that we tried.
Eggless Microwave Chocolate Cake with Hershey’s Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
- All-purpose flour – 2 tbsp.
- Sugar – 1 tbsp.
- Hershey’s Syrup – 2 tbsp.
- Baking powder – ¼ tsp
- Melted butter or Oil – ½ tsp
Steps:
- Add all the ingredients in a microwave-safe ramekin or mug.
- Combine them well and make sure there are no lumps.
- Microwave it for 1 minute.
- Let it cool for 45 seconds and enjoy it with or without ice-cream.
Notes:
- If using butter, make sure you are using the melted ones. The thick ones don’t work well for the microwave ones. If not vegetable oil or corn oil or canola oil will work.
- The time might vary depending on your microwave setting, but for this measure, it should not take more than 70 to 75 seconds and do not cook beyond that. The cake will set in resting time.
- If you microwave for more than 75 seconds, the cake becomes hard.
- Also, I would recommend serving this immediately or consuming it within half an hour. It hardens after that. I know mug cakes are to enjoy immediately but just wanted to update as we tried keeping it for more than half an hour.
- I did not add any milk. But a tsp of milk will yield more smooth texture.

Mine turned out very sticky. What could be the reason?

You can try adding some milk and let the cake cool completely. Let it sit for 2 mts atleast. Other option is to reduce the sugar. I hope this helps.
